[update] : see the new announcement from 26th of August which has considerably changed what was supposed to carry forward :

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Carry Forward system allows players to transfer select content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 into the new title, preserving certain aspects of their loadouts and personalization across connected experiences. This feature ensures continuity for players invested in their Black Ops 6 progress, enabling them to bring specific items into Black Ops 7 when it launches on November 14, 2025. Below is a detailed breakdown of how the Carry Forward system works, based on the official announcement.

What is Carry Forward?

Carry Forward is a system designed to let players carry over select content, such as weapons, Operators, and cosmetic items, from a previous Call of Duty title to the next when supported. It aims to maintain the value of players’ earned or purchased items across connected Call of Duty experiences, ensuring a seamless transition between games.

Carry Forward Details for Black Ops 7

The Black Ops 7 Carry Forward system primarily focuses on content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with most transfers becoming available at the start of Season 1, a few weeks after the game’s launch. Here’s what players can expect:

Content Available at Launch

  • XP Tokens and GobbleGums: These will carry forward from Black Ops 6 and be usable in Black Ops 7 starting at launch on November 14, 2025. XP Tokens help boost player progression, while GobbleGums provide unique perks in Zombies mode.
See here : https://callof.monster/call-of-duty-community-update-august-2025-recap/ as there has been some changes and carry forward to BO7 will actually be much, much more limited !

Content Available at Season 1

  • [UPDATE from the 26th of August] :
  • Weapons, Operators, and Operator Skins: Starting with Season 1, players can bring over most weapons, Operators, and Operator Skins from Black Ops 6. This allows players to continue using their favorite characters and weaponry in Black Ops 7’s Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes. --> not valid anymore !
  • Call of Duty: Warzone Integration: At the start of Season 1, Warzone will integrate with Black Ops 7. All current content from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, and Black Ops 6—including Operators, Weapons, and Weapon Blueprints—will carry forward, with some exceptions:
    • Weapons will be tuned specifically for Warzone’s balance.
    • A Rank Reset will occur in Warzone at Season 1, synchronizing player progression with Black Ops 7’s progression systems.

Content That Will Not Carry Forward

  • Equipment and Scorestreak Skins: Skins for Equipment and Scorestreaks that are not available in Black Ops 7 will not transfer. Additionally, skins for content that has been updated or redesigned (e.g., Scorestreaks with a different look or functionality in Black Ops 7) will not carry over.
  • Weapon Camos: Camos earned in Black Ops 6 will remain usable on Black Ops 6 weapons but will not be transferable to Black Ops 7 weapons. Players will need to unlock new Weapon Camos in Black Ops 7 through its progression systems, which include 16 Mastery Camos across Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies at launch, with additional camos in Warzone starting in Season 1.

Why Carry Forward Matters

The Carry Forward system reflects Activision’s commitment to rewarding player investment across Call of Duty titles. By allowing XP Tokens, GobbleGums, weapons, Operators, and select skins to transfer, Black Ops 7 ensures that players can jump into the new game without losing key elements of their Black Ops 6 experience. However, the limitations on Equipment, Scorestreak Skins, and Weapon Camos encourage players to engage with Black Ops 7’s new progression systems, such as the return of Weapon Prestige and the introduction of Global Progression across Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

What’s Next?

More details on the Carry Forward system will be shared closer to the start of Season 1. The Call of Duty: NEXT event on September 30, 2025, will provide further insights into Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer and Zombies modes, with the Open Beta running from October 2 to October 8, 2025, offering hands-on experience.
